About SEIA

SEIA was formed in 2007 in response to demand from within the industry. Installers who felt they wanted to be unified and represented under one banner with their interests at heart; manufacturers and importers of panels, inverters, batteries etc who wanted to support and grow the solar industry; retailers, researchers and lobbyists who requested a union of like-minded professionals so that all the various interests and concerns of the solar industry could be effectively reflected under one roof.

Our primary goals are:

• To hold highly informative educational events for our members each year in the major cities
• To investigate, act and lobby on behalf of our members on issues that are brought to our attention and within our scope
• To collaborate with other like minded industry bodies and associations for the benefit of the industry
• To share timely updates and information about issues that affect our members

Our members include:

• Self-employed and employed installers who are passionate about the future of the solar industry in Australia.
• Major importers and manufacturers of PV panels, inverters, batteries and associated infrastructure.
• National Installation Organisations of PV systems for home and business.
• Private and Government run education facilities.
• Renewable Energy Consultants.
• Members of the Public who are interested in, and supportive of, the growth of the solar industry in Australia.
• Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) trading companies.

SEIA’s strict Code of Ethics does not allow companies or individuals who act disreputably within the industry, or to the detriment of the industry, to become members.

 

Code of Ethics

Members of the Solar Energy Industries Association Incorporated (SEIA) are bound by a code of conduct and a determination to represent solar technology and its use honestly, with integrity and the promotion of the industry as a whole as our guiding principal.

 

We are committed to protecting the rights of consumers and users of solar energy systems. We are dedicated to providing safe and effective products, accurate information, and helpful, reliable service.

 

As part of these commitments we will:

1. Produce solar energy products and systems to meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
2. Present honestly the capabilities, performance and energy savings potential of solar products.
3. Present honestly and openly any government incentives or rebates for purchasers of solar power.
4. Protect the health and safety of consumers in the design and provision of products and services.
5. Offer and honour clear, understandable warranties that comply with all applicable regulations.
6. Perform servicing and repairs in a professional manner.
7. Be responsive to, and act upon, consumer suggestions and complaints.
8. At all times act in the best interests of the solar industry, as a whole, in Australia.
