In 2015 cyclone Pam, the worst cyclone to ever hit Vanuatu, destroyed 90% infrastructure with 250km/h winds. It received a category 5 status and was declared to have had the highest 10-minute sustained wind speed of any South Pacific tropical cyclone. International aid was provided for a period of 3 months before moving on to other disaster areas and the people of Vanuatu had to slowly rebuild their lives. A sense of being forgotten and having to struggle alone was among the population.
Enter the year 2016 and follow a group of volunteers as for the second time they install solar equipment donated by Australian solar installers, manufacturers and suppliers thus helping isolated communities in Vanuatu with power for their schools. This allows students to study after hours, schools to save money on fuel for generators to reinvest into education, helping students to reach an education that will improve their opportunities to study further or gain employment and generally improve the lives of small communities.

“The Storm that Time Forgot” was filmed on location during our last trip to Vanuatu. It shows the extreme damage that was caused and what SEIA has done to help.
